The seven-mile stretch drive through The Woodlands has gorgeous views surrounded by a display of trees. Lake Woodlands can be found along this drive and is a beautiful and intricate part of The Woodlands community, but it wasn't always that way. The lake didn't officially open until around 10 years after The Woodlands was founded. Lake Woodlands was excavated in 1984 and then had it's official opening in 1985. It was dug down to about 8 feet deep and the soil from the lakebed was used for several housing developments in the area. The Loch Ness sculpture pictured is just one of several unique art pieces scattered throughout The Woodlands and adds to the charm and beauty of this little community. This city is home to over 100 public art pieces! From benches and mosaics to sculptures and murals, the collection is certainly a draw for locals and tourists alike. |
"Rise of the Midgard Serpent" by Marc Rosenthal was installed in Lake Woodlands near Southshore Park in 1985. “Swimming” at 6 feet high, 1 foot wide, and a whole 35 feet long, this is the longest art piece in The Woodlands.
